Make Your Difference: Sustainability Leadership for Non-Sustainability Professionals
A nine-week online programme to help leaders, professionals and business owners champion sustainability in their work life – without having to become a full-on sustainability expert.
ENROLLWe know that many experienced leaders, professionals and business owners care deeply about the climate and environment crises.
Like us they worry about what our society and economy is doing to the rest of nature – and what it means for our families and for people across the world.
They’re taking action – changing their lifestyle, shifting to electric vehicles, eco-refurbishing their homes and much more.
Even if sustainability isn’t in their job description they bring their concern into their work life – encouraging their organisation and their profession to take more action, more urgently.
But despite making progress they sometimes feel…
Frustrated by colleagues and others who seem disinterested or overcautious;
Unsure that they are putting their energy where they can do most good;
Isolated without the support of knowledgeable peers who share their commitment.
Is this you? Do you want to…
Talk about sustainability with greater confidence, to engage people’s interest more successfully and find more common ground for action?
Cut through sustainability jargon to find the sweet spot where you, with your particular experience, connections and skills, can make the greatest difference?
Be part of a network of people who understand your hopes and concerns, who are skilled at supporting each other and generous with their expertise?
If so, we have made something for you…
Based on years of hard won experience and recent research, we have developed an inspiring yet practical online programme: Make Your Difference: Sustainability Leadership for Non-Sustainability Professionals.
We are now launching a pilot so we can learn from participants’ experience to refine the programme’s scope, contents and methods.
The pilot programme will run with a small group of participants with live input and coaching from three Natural Change sustainability experts.
It will be a rare opportunity to benefit from high quality training at reduced cost. At the same time you will be helping to shape the final programme, enabling many more purpose-led professionals to be part of the change the world so urgently needs.
“I was overwhelmed by the enormity of the climate crisis, not knowing how to make our work impactful and meaningful. I couldn’t identify where to put my energy. Now I am much more confident with a clear purpose and direction.”
Isabelle Kolebinov
Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Child Rights International Network.
“Without a doubt I would recommend it. It’s one of the best things I’ve done in personal and professional development.”
Participant in a previous programme, recognised by UNESCO
The programme includes:
- Live online group sessions over Zoom with presentations by our sustainability leadership experts on the key concepts, discussions and practical exercises.
- Solo structured tasks between each session to build your personal sustainability leadership plan.
- Paired activities between each session to give and receive feedback on your emerging plan, and develop skills and relationships for future mutual support.
- Three one-to-one coaching sessions with one of our sustainability leadership experts.
- You will also have access to recordings of the live sessions for review and signpost to further, optional, reading.
The programme runs from late June to September 2021. Each live session runs from 4:30pm to 6:00pm on Wednesdays. Dates to be confirmed soon.
The time between the five online sessions increases from one week to three weeks over the course of the programme to give you the time you need to develop your plan and undertake individual and paired activities.
When we launch the full programme the fee will be £1,200.
For this pilot we’re charging just £297.
Let’s be clear – getting other people engaged in sustainability, developing effective sustainability initiatives, etc. is rarely quick and easy.
There are no silver bullets or magic wands. If there were, the world wouldn’t be in the state it is.
However, we are confident this programme will help you take real steps forward to champion sustainability. If, despite doing the work and making use of all the support available, you haven’t progressed on your sustainability leadership journey, we’ll refund your payment.
As this is a pilot programme we are taking no more than 12 participants. The closing date is 21st June.
The programme is led by sustainability leadership experts Osbert Lancaster, Morag Watson and Richard Profit.
We all know what it’s like to be deeply concerned about the state of the world, working to make a difference, but sure you could do so much more – our own experiences of trying to make our difference, and helping others make theirs, has lead us to create this programme.
Osbert has been supporting people to take on leadership for sustainability for over twenty years. He has supported numerous organisation to design and deliver sustainability strategies and developed the University of Edinburgh’s first online, part-time, MSc for professionals seeking to bring sustainability into their work.
Morag is a climate change and sustainability policy expert and former UNESCO adviser. She has been advising individuals, organisations and governments on sustainability, leadership and change strategies for over fifteen years. Osbert and Morag’s previous sustainability leadership programme was recognised by UNESCO for its contribution to UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
Richard is former Global Operations Sustainability Senior Manager, PepsiCo, where he led the company’s climate strategy. He now works with multinational organisations, supporting their sustainability journeys as they decarbonise their supply chains.
