In 1903, the Scottish-born conservationist, John Muir, took President Theodore Roosevelt on a camping trip to California’s Yosemite valley. As a result of his experience, Roosevelt created five national parks, 150 national forests, 51 bird refuges, four game preserves, 18 national monuments, 24 reclamation projects and the US National Forest Service. The President’s experience also led him to argue that it was undemocratic to exploit the nation’s resources for present profit.
Natural Change offers inspiring and healing experiences of wild places, that radically change people’s view of their place in the world. Spending time outdoors, exploring relationships with the land and sea helps participants to develop an understanding that we are all interrelated parts of nature, rather than separate from or superior to it.
Facilitators work with participants' strengths and creativity to help them translate this shift in perspective into social action for the benefit of nature - to change organisational cultures, transform communities and influence national policies.
